ONTARIO WINTER BIBLE SCHOOL

SCHOOL OBJECTIVES

The purpose of the Ontario Winter Bible School:

  1. To strengthen ourselves in those things which are most surely believed amongst us as Christadelphians regarding the faith once delivered unto the saints and brought to light again in these last days.
  2. To reintroduce the fundamentals of Bible truth in fresh and stimulating ways while encouraging all of us to give attention to the personal study of the Scriptures that they might build us up and give us an inheritance among those who are sanctified.

SCHOOL RULES & GUIDELINES

  1. The Ontario Winter Bible School is organized and conducted on the doctrines and precepts of the Scriptures as conveniently summarized in the Birmingham Amended Statement of Faith (BASF). Brothers and Sisters of Central fellowship ecclesias that are in good standing and meet consistently on this basis are welcome to partake of the emblems.
  2. Parents/guardians are responsible for their children, and should be aware of where they are at all times. Children should be accompanied by an adult in buffet lines.
  3. To avoid the spread of illness, anyone who becomes ill during the school with flu symptoms (fever or vomiting) must be isolated from others until 24 hours after symptoms end.
  4. In every way we should show ourselves to be true followers of Christ, and so leave behind a good impression that will be a testimony to the Truth and bring glory to God.
  5. So that the program might operate to everyone’s benefit, all study sessions, meals, activities etc. should be attended on time.
  6. For the benefit of the School, everyone should be settled in their rooms at a reasonable time. We request that young people be quiet by 10:00 pm and in rooms by 11:15 pm.
  7. Men are not permitted in women’s rooms and vice versa. Common areas should be used for fellowship.
  8. Anyone wishing to leave the Hotel grounds for reasons other than planned activities must ensure that they first sign the departure book or notify the secretary.
  9. Outside of the School program, no promotional activities or meetings of any sort are to be conducted at the School without the prior approval of the Committee.
  10. The Committee requests that controversial issues not be discussed anywhere or anytime during the School. The School is not to be used as a tool for advancing individual or group thought of any controversial nature.
  11. Electronic entertainment devices are not permitted at the School unless specific permission has been obtained. Cell device communication should be limited to essential use outside of any sessions. During all sessions it is requested that cell transmission be turned off.
  12. No alcohol is to be consumed or used at the School (wine at emblems excepted).
  13. Dress code: consistent with the School Objectives, we ask that dress be modest and inoffensive at all times, and dignified rather than casual. For sisters, head coverings are recommended for all sessions. Formal dress is preferred for the Memorial Service, for presiders and organists.
  14. Recordings will be made of all adult classes and will be made available.
  15. You will need to bring your Bible, Hymn Book and note book. Brethren doing Bible readings are requested to use the KJV or NKJV.
  16. For those who wish to participate in outdoor activities, suitable winter clothing and equipment will be needed. This includes ice skates, helmets for hockey (mandatory for players at the ice rink), and sleds for tobogganing. For those who do not have their own, snow shoes and cross-country skis can be rented. For indoor activities, overly revealing swim wear like bikinis is considered unacceptable.
